Online Test Details
- Objective Test (120 marks, 2 hours):
- English Language: 30 questions, 30 marks, 30 minutes
- Banking Knowledge: 40 questions, 40 marks, 40 minutes
- General Awareness/Economy: 30 questions, 30 marks, 30 minutes
- Computer Aptitude: 20 questions, 20 marks, 20 minutes
- Descriptive Test (50 marks, 30 minutes):
- Test of English Language (Letter Writing & Essay, 2 questions)
- No penalty for wrong answers in Objective Test.
- Minimum qualifying marks on aggregate (decided by SBI), no sectional qualifying marks.
Screening
- Candidates qualifying in the online test undergo screening to verify experience.
- The Screening Committee assesses if the candidate’s job profile matches that of a Scale-I Generalist Officer.
- Applications not meeting the job profile criteria are rejected.
- A merit list is prepared circle-wise and category-wise, with up to 3 times the vacancies called for interview.
Interview
- Consists of 50 marks, with minimum qualifying marks set by SBI.
- Candidates must qualify to proceed to final selection.
Final Selection
- Candidates must qualify both Online Test and Interview.
- Marks from Online Test (170 marks, converted to 75) and Interview (50 marks, converted to 25) are aggregated (75:25 weightage).
- Final merit list is prepared circle-wise and category-wise, with selections from top-ranked candidates.
Local Language Proficiency Test
- Candidates must be proficient (reading, writing, understanding) in one of the specified local languages of the applied circle.
- A test is conducted before joining for provisionally selected candidates.
- Candidates with 10th/12th mark sheets proving the local language as a subject are exempt.
- Failure to qualify results in no appointment.

- Starting Basic Pay: ₹48,480 (Scale: ₹48,480-85,920, Junior Management Grade Scale-I).
- Additional Benefits: 2 advance increments for 2+ years of officer experience in Scheduled Commercial Banks/RRBs, D.A., H.R.A./Lease rental, C.C.A., PF, NPS, LFC, Medical Facility, and other allowances as per SBI rules.
Joining, Training & Career Path
- Designation: Circle Based Officers (CBOs).
- Probation: 6 months with continuous assessment.
- Confirmation: Candidates meeting SBI’s standards are confirmed in Junior Management Grade Scale-I. Failure may lead to termination.
- Career Path: Governed by SBI’s general cadre promotion policy. No inter-circle transfers or corporate/foreign postings until promotion to SMGS-IV or 12 years of service (whichever is later).
Examination Centers
- Online exams will be conducted at multiple centers across India (list in Annexure-I).
- No requests for changing exam center/date/session are entertained.
- SBI reserves the right to cancel/add centers or allot a different center than opted.
- Candidates bear the risk and expenses of attending the exam.
- Unruly behavior in the exam hall may lead to candidature cancellation or disqualification from future SBI exams.
