Educational Qualification
- Scientific Officer (Physical / General): Must have passed M.Sc. with Physics or Forensic Science with Physics as a special subject with a minimum of 65% aggregate marks.
- Scientific Officer (Chemical): Must have passed M.Sc. with Chemistry or Forensic Science with Chemistry as a special subject with a minimum of 65% aggregate marks.
- Scientific Officer (Biology / Serology): Must have passed M.Sc. with Biology, Genetics, Zoology, Botany, Microbiology, Bio-Technology, Bio-Chemistry, Psychology (M.A/M.Sc.), or Forensic Science with specialization in Biology/Serology/DNA with a minimum of 65% aggregate marks.

Age Limit
- Minimum Age: 18 years
- Maximum Age (General): 34 years
- Special Age Relaxation: The Government of Telangana has increased the upper age limit by 12 years for direct recruitment. Therefore, the effective maximum age for general candidates is 46 years as of July 1, 2025.
Age relaxations are also applicable for specific categories:
- Telangana State Government Employees: Length of regular service up to a maximum period of 5 years.
- Ex-Servicemen: 3 years in addition to the length of service rendered in the armed forces.
- NCC Instructor: 3 years in addition to the length of service rendered as an instructor in the NCC.
- SC/ST/BC/EWS Candidates: 5 years.

Medical Standards
- Distant Vision: Right Eye 6/6, Left Eye 6/6.
- Near Vision: Right Eye 0/5 (Snellen), Left Eye 0/5 (Snellen).
- Each eye must have a full field of vision. Colour blindness, squint, or any morbid condition of the eye or lids will lead to disqualification. Candidates are advised to undergo a medical examination before applying.

Selection Process
- Stage 1: Weightage Marks
- Candidates will be awarded 70 to 75 marks based on their academic qualifications and relevant work experience. This score forms a significant part of the overall evaluation.
- Stage 2: Written Examination
- Shortlisted candidates, based on their weightage marks, will appear for a one-hour descriptive written examination. This exam carries 25 to 30 marks, depending on the post.
