Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Scientist-D: Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree from a recognized university in any of the disciplines specified in Schedule I of the official notification. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s Degree (minimum four-year degree course) in any discipline listed in Schedule II is also acceptable. Crucially, applicants need eight years of experience in Research and Development (R&D) in Industry, Academic Institutions, or Science and Technology Organizations.
  • Scientist-C: Applicants for this post should hold a Master’s Degree from a recognized university in a discipline from Schedule I, or a Bachelor’s Degree (minimum four-year degree course) from Schedule II. A minimum of four years of experience in Research and Development (R&D) within Industry, Academic Institutions, or Science and Technology Organizations is mandatory.
  • Note on Experience: The time spent acquiring the minimum essential educational qualification will not count towards the required experience. However, a maximum of two years spent on obtaining a doctorate degree (in the field of essential qualification), as certified by the institution, may be counted towards experience, provided the doctorate degree has been awarded.

Age Limit

  • Maximum Age for Scientist-D: 40 years
  • Maximum Age for Scientist-C: 35 years
  • Relaxation: Age relaxation will be provided for candidates belonging to SC/ST, OBC, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), Ex-Servicemen, and Government Servants, as per the rules issued by the Central Government from time to time.
